Change the serial baud rate of BT578(V2/V3) adapter

It's easy to change the serial baud rate of BT578(V2/V3) adapter, just 3 steps:

1,  Connect BT578 to Windows XP/7/8/10 computer via DB9 male to female converter, please pay attention to Male/Female Slide Switch on the top of BT578 adapter, make sure the switch is at F position.  (If there isn't RS232 serial port on your PC, you can buy a USB to RS232 cable to add a serial port to your PC)


2, Turn on BT578 adapter, the blue LED will flash(Bluetooth is not connected to other device), open BT578 tester program(click here to download), choose the correct com port number which BT578 was connected, make sure the computer's COM port settings is same as BT578 serial port settings (factory default settings are 9600,8,1,N,N), please refer to the snap picture below. (For BT578_V3 user, please check "New Line")



3, Click Open Com to Open serial port, type test command "AT" in Data input box, click "SEND", the upper window will get return message "OK" "+OK" from BT578 adapter, it means  AT test command was run successfully, you can proceed with more AT command.



For BT578_V2, type "AT+BAUD=115200", click "SEND", BT578_V2 will return a message "OK+BAUD=115200", it means the serial baud rate of BT578 adapter have been  changed to 115200 bps.
For BT578_V3, type "AT+BAUD8", click "SEND", BT578_V3 will return a message "+OK", it means the serial baud rate of BT578_V3 adapter have been  changed to 115200 bps.



The AT commands to change BT578 serial port baudrate will take effect immediately.
After the serial port baud rate of the adapter was changed, the computer's serial port should be changed to same baud rate in time, otherwise the AT command setting cannot proceed.

In the last post, the BT578 adapter has been connected to serial port of a computer. In this post, a Android mobile Phone will communicate with it.

1. please download a APP named "ATBlue" from this URL: http://www.irxon.com/download/ATBlue-EN.rar
After extracting the compressed file and installation on a Android mobile phone, tap "ATBlue" icon to run the APP.



2. In "ATBlue" APP, tap "SCAN" to search Bluetooth device, tap "BT578_BLE" in the found device list to connect.



3. A Bluetooth link between mobile phone and BT578 adapter will be established (the blue LED turns steadily on).
Type characters at the bottom of screen, then tap "SEND", BT578 tester program will receive the characters, and vice versa.

In the first post, the BT578 adapter had been connected to serial port of a computer. In this post, an iPhone will communicate with it.

1.  Please install a general purpose BLE communication APP named "LightBlue" in the App Store.



2. Tap the icon to run LightBlue, the APP start searching Bluetooth device at once.
Tap BT578_BLE in the found divices list, a Bluetooth link between iPhone and BT578 adapter will be established(blue LED stay on).



3. LightBlue is a professional BLE APP, user can communicate with BT578 by writing FFE1 and listening for its notifications. Please tap "FFE1".



4. Chang "Hex" to "UTF-8", start "listen for notifications", then "write new value"



5. Write a string here, then tap "done".



BT578 tester program will receive the string, and vice versa.

In the first post, the BT578 adapter had been connected to serial port of a computer. In this post, a Bluetooth-enabled Windows 10 computer will communicate with it.

1. Click Bluetooth icon in notification area of taskbar, and then click "Add a Bluetooth Device".





2. Click "BT578_SPP" in the found devices list(Do not click "BT578_BLE"), and then click "Pair".



3. enter the BT578 pairing password (default password is 1234).



4. After pairing is completed, "BT578_SPP" is "connected", click "More Bluetooth options".




5. In Bluetooth Settings window, click "COM Ports",  the system had assigned 2 Bluetooth virtual COM port to BT578 adapter. The "Outgoing" COM port is the COM port we should use in serial monitor program. Remember the COM port number, and close the window.



6. BT578 Tester is a general purpose serial monitor program, it can still be used in normal serial communication. Run the program, select outgoing COM port to communicate with BT578 adapters.



7. "Open COM", the blue LED on the adapter will stay on. Input characters in "data input" box, click "SEND", the serial port which the BT578 is attached will receive the characters, and vice versa.

1. Using RJ45-DB9 console cable to connect BT578 adapter to a ethernet switch (we take HUAWEI S2700-9TP as an example).
Normally, the DB9 connector of console cable is female, it can be directly connected to BT578's DB9 male port,  please slide the Male/Female switch to mark "M" side.
Look up user manual of ethernet switch to know its serial port settings. The default settings of BT578's serial port are 9600,N,8,1, if this settings is different from ethernet switch serial port settings, please refer to the first post to modify the BT578 serial port, make BT578 adapter and the ethernet switch have the same serial port settings.




2. Download a APP named "BlueTerminal" from this address: http://www.irxon.com/download/BlueTerminal-EN.rar
After extracting the compressed file and installation on Android mobile phone, tap "BlueTerminal" icon to run the APP.
The APP is specified for BT578 adapter, tap "SCAN" button to start searching BLE device.



3. Tap "BT578_BLE" in the found Bluetooth devices list to connect, a wireless link between Android mobile phone and ethernet switch will be established (BT578's blue LED turns steadily on).



4. You can begin to configure the ethernet switch now.









In order to show more returned messages from switch on screen and show more orderly, please use "small font size" and "small display size".

In Android 6.0 and higher version, a coarse location permission is needed to run Bluetooth searching.

When you run "ATBlue" or "Blueterminal" for the first time, please give the APP location permission, select "While Using" or "Allow".

Q1: I am trying to configure the adapter to change the BAUD rate. I downloaded your android app. I successfully connected to the BT578_BLE on the app. However, when I send a AT command there is no reply. When I look at the adapter, the power light is on,  the bluetooth light is solid once I connect to the app. When I send a AT command the Serial Data Activity LED briefly flashes and then turns off. I have tried to send the AT commands while pressing and holding the  AT command button but I get no reply. Could you please advise?

A1: BT578V2 does not support AT command via Bluetooth wireless connection, you have to send AT command via RS232 physical connection.
You must connect BT578V2 to a serial port of your computer to send AT command.  If your PC does not have a serial port, please buy a USB-RS232  cable to add a physical COM port to your computer.

Q2: Windows 11 can't find BT578 V3.

A2: If you don't see your BT578/BT579/BT580 device displayed in the list of devices in Windows 11, you may need to set your Bluetooth devices discovery setting to Advanced.

1. Select Start  > Settings  > Bluetooth & devices  > Devices .  

2. Under Device settings > Bluetooth devices discovery, choose one of the following from the drop-down list:   
Default—displays common Bluetooth devices  
Advanced—displays all types of Bluetooth devices
